Alex Mercandetti
Investment Manager - Energy
Based in Emerald’s Zurich office, Alex is an Investment Manager with a focus on energy systems for Mobility (Electric Vehicles and Fuel Cells) and Waste-to-Energy technologies. His responsibilities include sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, developing market landscapes, and supporting corporate venture capital teams in identifying innovative startups.
In addition to the venture capital activities, Alex contributes to the Swiss Technology Fund, where he analyzes applications for loan guarantees and assesses their environmental impact.
Prior to joining Emerald, Alex gained experience at Covestro Deutschland AG and Grundfos, working on strategic projects to drive sustainability in the petrochemical and water sectors. He holds a Master’s degree in Chemical and Bioengineering from ETH Zurich and is fluent in German, English, and Italian.
