Kunal Shah
Kunal Shah currently serves as the Managing Director – Asia overseeing growth and sales activities for Anaergia, an integrated solutions provider for organics waste management maximizing resource recovery from wastewater, solid waste and agricultural waste. Previously he was VP – Global Market Development & Strategy responsible for global marketing and strategic partnerships including branding aspects of the company. Prior to joining Anaergia, he was Country Manager – Malaysia & Indonesia and member of Global Business Development Team at VA Tech Wabag, a global water process EPC contractor.
Kunal has spearheaded successful development and implementation of technology-based EPC, DBO and BOO projects in Municipal Solid waste, Biogas, wastewater treatment, sea water desalination, Industrial water & Wastewater reuse. He has hands on experience of developing and building several water and waste projects in three of the World’s largest and fastest growing economies of India, China, and ASEAN including developing and securing one of the world’s largest Industrial wastewater treatment plant in Malaysia for Petronas. He has lived and worked in Chennai, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, San Diego and now is based in Singapore. Kunal is known for his unique ability in devising new market entry and development strategies especially for Asia Pacific, business development in both municipal and Industrial sectors, Corporate Strategy with a proven track record in executing successful strategic partnerships across the water and waste value chain.
Kunal holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pune. He is actively engaged in a number of professional activities such as serving as Chair of young water professionals and a Council member of Singapore Water Association, advisory council member of Imagine H2O Asia, Member of Sustainability and International Advisory board of the Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas to name a few and is a Singapore Young Water Leader, 2014. He serves as mentor to several global water & waste startups and is an active speaker in forums on water, waste, and renewable energy. He is passionate towards the cause of “24/7 access to clean drinking water for all globally” and believes in the power of youth to make our planet earth a more sustainable and better place to live in.
