Werner Tillmetz

From 2004 until 2018 Professor Dr. Werner Tillmetz was a member of the ZSW Board (Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research) and head of the Electrochemical Energy Technologies Division. He is a member of the faculty of natural sciences at the University of Ulm. In 1984, he earned his doctorate in applied electrochemistry at the Technical University of Munich.

For more than 20 years he held several management positions in the industry. The first key activities were on new energy technologies in space application at Dornier Systems. Thereafter he was responsible for the fuel cell drive train development at Daimler Benz AG and Ballard Power Systems. Finally, at Süd‐Chemie AG he headed up the global catalyst business for energy and environmental applications.

Tillmetz is a member of various industry and governmental committees like the advisory board to the “National Organization Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NOW GmbH)”.
