Zürich, Switzerland: SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group, a major producer of materials used across the construction, plastics, infrastructure, energy and medical sectors, has joined Emerald’s industrial transformation fund as a limited partner. The alliance is meant to help Sekisui create new and improved offerings via venture activity and collaboration with startups, with a particular focus on reducing its products’ environmental footprint.
SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group would like to expand business contributions to the environment and society in four areas: Residential, Advanced Lifeline, Innovative Mobility and Life Science. It has also set two ambitious goals: JPY 2 trillion in revenue in 2030 (twice the amount of 2019) and zero emissions by 2050. To achieve these goals, SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group is taking important steps to create new business via open innovation. To do this, it is becoming a proactive ally with other companies and it is fostering collaboration with academia and startups.
Through the synergy with Emerald’s expertise in industrial innovation, SEKISUI CHEMICAL will be able to accelerate investment in startups via its Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) arm.
