Helge Daebel

Helge has been responsible for the water sector within Emerald since 2006. He leads Emerald’s USD 100M global water fund, i.e. works with a team of water professionals setting the strategy, leading investments and supporting portfolio companies on all business matters.

His past and present involvements in Emerald’s portfolio companies include board director roles at Optimatics (software for advanced infrastructure planning, acquired by SUEZ), Pure Technologies (structural monitoring of water mains, TSX listed and subsequently acquired by Xylem), Sofi Filtration (Self-cleaning microfiltration for harsh industrial environments) and Takadu (pioneer in smart water grids). He was also involved in the investments in HydroPoint Data Systems, AquaSpy (both focused on smart irrigation), the Pressure Pipe Inspection Company and inge watertechnologies (UF membrane products, acquired by BASF now owned by DUPONT).

Helge is a Co-Founder and Co-Managing Director of Singapore-based ripple2wave incubator and a member of the Smart Water Networks Forum (SWAN). He is an active advisor of Sembcorp’s Water Innovation Nanjing Accelerator, the Bluetech Innovation Forum, the Singapore TechXchange and the World Water-Tech Investment Summit. Previously he served as board director at WaterTAP Ontario and chaired the selection committee at the Swiss Bluetec Bridge.

Helge holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from ETH Zurich and a Master’s degree in civil engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
