Investment Manager - Energy
Based in our Zurich office, Max focuses on emerging technology for decarbonizing the energy, chemical and power sectors. He is involved in all phases of the investment process: sourcing, evaluating, selecting, and supporting innovative startups from early diligence to exit.
Prior to joining Emerald, Max was leading a startup incubated at Wyss Zurich. He was responsible for technical development, also covering fundraising, hiring and finances. Max also held an active role in an industrial IT startup developing process optimization software for large chemical manufacturers. Prior to that, he was working as a scientist for five years in the separation process group at ETH Zurich where he conducted research and wrote software for CO2 capture and blue hydrogen process development and optimization.
Max holds a PhD in Process Engineering focusing on CO2 capture from ETH Zurich and completed his masters in chemical engineering at Columbia University (USA) and at ETH Zurich. Max holds an advanced degree (DAS) in Applied Statistics from ETH Zurich. He is fluent in German and English.
